ORIGINS
This is a time for subverting norms, for recycling, and the bag is becoming an object of pleasure, fantasy, and transformation.
It was in this spirit that, in May 2008, the first Sous Les Pavés bag was designed using... a dishcloth!
A tribute to the 40th anniversary of May '68, a movement for women's liberation and an intellectual and cultural revolution.

L’histoire a commencé presque par hasard
Au détour d’une rue, lors d’une promenade dans le Marais, une magnifique porte ancienne a attiré mon regard. Poussée par la curiosité, je l’ai franchie… pour découvrir une cour pavée, cachée au cœur de Paris. Au fond, un atelier d’estampilles en laiton, fondé sous Napoléon.
En entrant, j’ai immédiatement été fascinée par ces centaines de symboles : scarabées, lapins, panthères, cigales, sirènes… Chacune de ces estampes semblait raconter une histoire.
Depuis, elles accompagnent chacune de mes créations. Réalisées de façon artisanale, elles sont ensuite patinées dans un bain de bronze ou de platine avant d’être apposées sur les sacs.

The leather comes from the best tanneries in France and Europe.
No treatment is applied to the hides; they are tanned, respecting traditional methods, with "chrome-free" vegetable agents for lambskin.
The stampings are made in the heart of Paris in the Marais, they then go through a bronze or silver bath at a Parisian gilder before being hand-sewn onto each bag.
This 100% local process therefore allows for short delivery times and bag customization.
